Montana Freedom Caucus Legislators Urge “No” Vote on Central Bank Digital Currency Bill
“Oppose Central Bank Digital Currency in Montana”
HELENA, MT (59601)—The Montana Freedom Caucus opposes Senate Bill 370, which would create the necessary framework for a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
The push for a CBDC is the biggest attack on financial freedom that our country has ever seen. Imagine being forced to have a bank account directly with the Federal Reserve rather than a commercial bank like Wells Fargo or Bank of America. The government would see all your transactions and even block those it disagrees with. Trying to buy a gun to protect yourself? Not if the government sees you as a threat. It is as easy as the chip on your debit card being programmed for what you can and cannot buy. This already happens in other areas of our economy, and it would not be hard to implement nationwide. Senate Bill 370 is how this could happen in Montana if it is not stopped.
The bill sailed through the Montana Senate on a 32-18 vote and is pending in the House. The language in this bad bill was crafted by the U.S. Federal Reserve. This is why the same legislation is getting pushed in all 50 states.
Montana must follow in the steps of South Dakota and Arizona where this bad legislation was vetoed or blocked. Montanans deserve better than to have the federal government regulate, monitor, and approve/deny their purchases.
The Montana Freedom Caucus are members of the Montana Legislature who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes, and accountability and integrity in government.
