Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton announced Thursday, January 7th, that he was, “rescinding all Yellowstone County COVID-19 Health Officer orders effective immediately.” The restrictions that Felton mandated included ordering businesses to close by 10pm and ordering churches, bars, gyms, and restaurants to 50% capacity.
Felton cited lower case numbers as reasoning for rescinding the health orders noting that there were 34 cases per 100,000 for the week ending January 2nd. Missoula County’s target is 25 cases per 100,000 over the span of a week. It is worth noting that Missoula County does not do random sample testing of the population and that tests are only available to people experiencing symptoms so test results will naturally result in higher positive case counts.
