An excellent video on the problem which our forests are facing, a massive, catastrophic wildfire which cannot be avoided and probably will not be contained–all due to the long-running mistakes of refusing to allow productive management (logging, thinning, etc.) AND natural, periodic fires.

Smokey the Bear and the environmentalist attitude of “saving the forests at any cost” have set up a situation in which the forests are going to be destroyed, no matter what we do. All it will take in many locations is a spark under tinder-dry conditions.

The forests are going to burn. It is not a matter of if, but when. We ignore this certainty at our peril.
