Dear Editor,

PSC5 candidate Dr. Annie Bukacek hosted an event Tuesday, detailing her plans upon election:

*Notify public when relevant issues come before the PSC or legislators by holding Zoom and in-person meetings.

Thanks to Dr. Annie’s grassroots leadership since 2009, we have seen the impact of citizen involvement in bringing needed changes to our county and state.

*More PSC involvement with our legislators is warranted; Dr. Bukacek will make it happen.

Legislators make laws; PSC applies them. MCA Title 69 describes the jurisdiction/operation of PSC, but it can be modified as needed through legislation.

The focus of PSC members is limited compared to that of legislators (who handle thousands of bills on various topics). PSC members could have a huge impact for good by being involved with the legislative process (testifying, crafting bills).

*Montanans must retain access not only to power but also to water rights. Therefore, Dr. Annie will work with legislators to bring supervision/regulation of the Flathead Reservation Water Management Board of the Water Compact under the PSC. Per MT Constitution Article IX, this is the state’s duty/obligation. And, based on MCA Title 69, Dr. Annie believes PSC is the most appropriate government entity to accomplish it.
