Montana Democrat and Secretary of State candidate Jesse Mullen resigns from Montana Democratic Party Executive Board and calls for “internal audit” of Montana Democratic Party finances

“I resigned from the Montana Democratic Party executive board recently due to a lack of detail, accountability, and internal transparency regarding the party budget and troubling comments made by paid party employees when bringing those concerns forward.
I am not claiming the party is breaking the law or misallocating funding, but as a board member, I am deeply uncomfortable with the lack of guardrails to prevent the misuse of donations to the Montana Democratic Party.

As a result, I am also withdrawing from the Big Sky Victory coordinated campaign effective immediately. I strongly urge the Party to allow an internal audit to address the issues, restore trust, and ensure the credibility of Democratic Party fundraising.”

Butte-Silver Bow election officials must conduct a complete recount of the June 4 primary election results in the next few days because they believe about 1,000 ballots were inadvertently counted twice on election night.

“I think what happened, because this has happened to us in the past, is that someone accidentally took ballots that had come out of the tabulator, put them in the wrong spot and they got counted again,” Linda Sajor-Joyce, Butte-Silver Bow’s clerk and recorder, told The Montana Standard late Friday afternoon.

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, along with 19 of his GOP colleagues, sent a letter to Chinese e-commerce company Temu on Thursday seeking information on the company’s business practices and potential ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“Congressional investigators believe that your company, Temu (which is owned by PDD Holdings), is illegally selling products made by forced labor in an area of China in which the CCP is committing genocide. And PDD Holdings is credibly accused by members of Congress as being linked to the CCP,” the letter states.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is one of 24 Republican governors that penned a letter to Joe Biden opposing the World Health Organization’s proposed “Pandemic Agreement,” which they said could “undermine national sovereignty” and states’ rights.

The state executives argue the treaty “would seek to elevate the WHO from an advisory body to a global authority in public health.” They contend the proposed accord could also allow the WHO to establish “a global surveillance infrastructure” and force participants to censor free speech.
